Dad’s Bread Recipes

 

Brandied Pumpkin Bread

 


¾ cup canned pumpkin

½ cup water

½ teaspoon brandy

2 tablespoons butter, softened

3 cups bread flour

¼ cup sugar

1 teaspoons salt

½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

2 ¼ teaspoons bread machine yeast


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on Basic Cycle, Light Crust.

 

Cranberry Blueberry Bread

 


1 cup plus 1 tablespoon water

3 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons butter, softened

3 cups bread flour

1 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons bread machine yeast

¼ cup dried cranberries

¼ cup dried blueberries


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on Sweet Cycle, Light Crust.

 

Egg Bread

 


¾ cup plus 2 tablespoons of milk (whole)

2 eggs

1-½ teaspoons salt

3 tablespoons of butter

¼ cup of sugar

3 cups of bread flour

2 teaspoons of yeast


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on the sweet bake cycle with a light crust. This is an excellent 1-1/2 pound  loaf for any purpose, sandwiches, French toast or a companion to any meal.  The eggs give it a rich, velvety taste and texture.  It tastes good so must have lots of calories!  150 per slice. 

 

Great Granola Bread

 


1 ¼ cups water

2 tablespoons butter, softened

2 tablespoons brown sugar

3 cups bread flour

¾ cup Granola

2 tablespoons dry milk

¾ teaspoon salt

1 ½ teaspoons bread machine yeast


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on Basic Cycle, Light Crust.

 

Honey and Cinnamon Wheat Bread

 


1 cup water

3 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons butter, softened

1 ½ cups bread flour

1 ½ cups white whole wheat flour

2 tablespoons dry milk

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons bread machine yeast


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on Basic Cycle, Light Crust.

 

Honey and Oats Bread

 


½ cup of old-fashioned rolled oats

1 ¼ cups of buttermilk

1 egg

1 ½ tablespoons of honey

1 ½ teaspoons of salt

1 ½ cups of whole wheat flour

1 ½ cups of bread flour

2 tablespoons of gluten, optional

2 teaspoons of bread yeast


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on rapid or whole-wheat cycles with light crust.  I used rapid and had a good loaf.  It has 124 calories per slice.  Needs to cool one hour before slicing.  Does not make a big high loaf.  This makes a 1½-lb. loaf.

 

Honey Lemon Bread

 

 


¾ cup plus 2 tablespoons water

3 tablespoons honey

2 tablespoons butter, softened

3 cups bread flour

2 tablespoons dry milk

1 ½ teaspoons grated lemon peel

¾ teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons bread machine yeast


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on Sweet Cycle, Light Crust.

 

Maple Walnut Bread

 


1 cup of water

½ cup of maple syrup

1 teaspoon of salt

1 tablespoon of butter

1 tablespoon of sugar

3 cups of bread flour

2 tablespoons of dry milk

¼ cup of walnuts chopped

2 teaspoons of yeast


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given. Use sweet bake cycle and light crust.  Wait at least an hour before slicing.  (If you can!)  This is a good breakfast bread or snacking any time.  Calories, 150 per slice and it’s difficult to eat just one slice. 

 

 

Peach Maple Bread

 


¾ cup plus 2 tablespoons water

¼ cup maple syrup

1 tablespoon butter, softened

3 cups bread flour

2 tablespoons brown sugar

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoons salt

2 ¼ teaspoons bread machine yeast

½ cup cut up dried peaches


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on Sweet Cycle, Light Crust.

 

Sweet Milk Bread

 


1 cup of water

½ cup of sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon of salt

1 tablespoon of butter

3 1/3 cups of bread flour

2 teaspoons of yeast


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on sweet setting with light crust.  Makes a huge loaf of creamy bread with lots of calories, 151.  It has a sweet taste.  One can of the sweetened condensed milk will make two loaves plus.  The rest would be good in coffee.  I made two loaves and froze one.  The milk is thick stuff and hardly pours after being in the refrigerator

 

Whole Wheat and Citrus Bread

 


¾ cup water

½ cup orange juice

2 tablespoons butter, softened

1 2/3 cups bread flour

1 2/3 cups white whole wheat flour

3 tablespoons wheat germ

2 tablespoons dry milk

3 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoons salt

1 ¼ teaspoons grated lemon peel

2 teaspoons bread machine yeast


 

Place ingredients in bread machine in order given and bake on Basic Cycle, Light Crust.
