Knitted Pin Cushion

 

 

Materials: Small amount of worsted weight yarn in 2 or 3 different colors, (The smallest section takes approximately .2 oz. yarn, the middle size requires .3 oz. yarn and the largest piece takes .4oz.)

# 8 US knitting needles (or size to obtain gauge), yarn needle, thimble

 

Gauge: 4 sts, 8 rows = 1 inch

 

Size: The pin cushion is 3 inches in diameter and 1 ¾ inches high.

The Small Section is 3 ¾ inches by 3 inches. The Middle Section is 3 ¾ inches by 4½  inches. The Large Section is 3 ¾ inches by 7 inches.

 

Note: This is made in 3 pieces.

 

Small Section: With Color A CO 15 sts. Work in garter stitch (knit every row) for 24 rows. BO in pattern. Sew the cast on edge to the bound off edge.

 

Middle Section: With Color B CO 15 sts. Work in garter stitch for 36 rows. BO in pattern. Sew the cast on edge to the bound off edge.

 

Large Section: With Color A CO 15 sts. Work in garter stitch for 56 rows. BO in pattern. Sew the cast on edge to the bound off edge.

 

Finishing: Fold each section in half lengthwise resulting in 3 rings. Place the Middle Ring around the Small Ring and the Large Ring around the Middle ring. Insert thimble into the center of the Small Ring.
